Commonwealth Trust was established in 2001 as a subsidiary of Sasfin Bank. The current directors did a share buyout from Sasfin during 2004 and presently own 100% shareholding.

Our directors and staff combined have in excess of 50 years experience which account for a wealth of restructuring, rescue and liquidation knowledge. We provide the following professional services:

Insolvency (liquidated companies/close corporations, trusts, associations and insolvent estates)

We specialise in the winding up of liquidated companies and the administration of sequestrations. We have been involved in well over 4000 liquidations and sequestrations, including companies registered on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

 

Prior to the amendments to the Companies Act in 2008 the directors attended to the administration of companies under judicial management.

 

Business Rescue

Since 2012 Commonwealth Trust has been appointed as Business Rescue Practitioners by the Commissioner of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission. We have successfully restructured and rescued various businesses throughout this period ranging from construction, property developers, transport, manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, mining and hospitality. We have assisted several clients with the tools available under business rescue legislation to offer them the best platform to turn their business around.
